Cruz Bay Landing is a popular tourist spot in St. John where travelers can find food and drinks all day long. There's live music every night and the restaurant is family friendly with something to eat for everyone.
Any restaurant in Cruz Bay is pricey and can be difficult to get a table. Cruz Bay Landing is a wonderful find. Among the best in value and large enough where a table for 4 or 6 was available at peak time with just a 30 minute wait. All of our dishes were Wonderful. Especially the special that night Fresh Red Snapper (image attached). Wait staff handled all the large crowds with focus and pleasant professionalism. All of the bar offerings we right on. (Many to choose from). We are STJ veterans and Cruz Bay Landing was a new discovery for us that will be on every trip from here on out. Oh....also had a bit of live music on the weeknight we dropped by. Pro-tip....try to sit away from the performer. It was a wee bit loud, but we were right next to her.

Easily the worst meal on the island. Not even close. 25 minute wait for a cup of drip coffee. Stared at the bathroom from my seat. Meal came after fifty five minutes, well after other tables came and went. and bacon was raw, eggs were hard boiled, sauce was water and toast was raw. No one asked a simple how is your meal? Avoid at all costs.

When you get off the ferry at Cruz Bay, the first restaurant you see is Cruz Bay Landing. It’s fun to explore all the wonderful eateries across the island, but don’t overlook this place! Good food, good service, and reasonable pricing. For lots of people, it’s their go-to restaurant for a meal while waiting for the ferry. But it’s also a great breakfast and lunch place, prior to a day on the island. In our case, we went twice during our 2023-24 holiday trip. While waiting for the VITRAN bus to Salt Pond (only $1!), we had a wonderful breakfast at Cruz Bay Landing. I had the veggie omelet, my wife had one of her favorites, huevos rancheros. Both were delicious, filling, and served hot. All the vegetable components were fresh. It’s also worth noting that the coffee was great. We’re not coffee snobs, but we do enjoy a good mug (or 2, or 3) of coffee, and CBL’s coffee was wonderful. Our second visit was also a breakfast as waited for the ferry to STT. The restaurant seemed packed, but they found us a table. We split a breakfast bowl. Again, outstanding.I’ve had lunch there on previous trips, but the breakfasts are so darn good that I tend to think of it as a breakfast place, and the dinner menu looks inviting, as well. We’ll have to give it a try on our next trip.

4 stars for excellent service. Very Americanized bar food. We got loaded waffles fries, a (huge) side salad and fish tacos. Hefty American portions, huge cocktails as well. Not a very authentic Caribbean meal, but a great stop on our way back from a day trip to St John

Lively downtown spot enjoying a few of the locals dishes. Seafood Pasta, Mahi tacos, Mahi Wraps, and Chicken Mac & Cheese.

Had our first dinner there in St. John. We loved the live music and daily catch special (black snapper with curry sauce) and fish and chips. The chocolate cake was a bit too sweet. Overall it’s pricey but still enjoyed the ambiance everything else.

Amazing food, I'd recommend the Landing shrimp, and fish & chips. Great atmosphere seated quickly also didn't have to wait long for a seat. The swango for a drink before dinner cooled me down in this heat.

Best ice and hot coffee on the entire island! This was our favorite brunch spot we came back twice. I highly recommended anything on the menu the cinnamon pancakes short stack was delicious. Be prepared to wait for a table as this spot is well known and highly regarded. Honestly everything on the menu was delicious. Pick whatever you want but I highly highly recommend the coco latte which was incredible.

We ate here 4 or 5 days in a row, and they were pretty reliable. Decent food and good cocktails, especially the BBC. Their eggs benedict was alright—I liked the salmon and capers on the Alaskan, but I wish the eggs were poached a little more consistently and not so long. I prefer a nice drip and hardly got any on 3/4 eggs I ordered on two occasions. All in all, it worked as a convenient breakfast stop, and they had a place to hold luggage while we ate which was nice. Most of the staff was friendly, but we got a bartender that was surprisingly rude and literally cursed in response to us ordered a common drink off the menu. Didn’t let that ruin the experience, but it was pretty off putting.

We went here for brunch & we were so satisfied with our meals!Outdoor & indoor seating is present. We tried the huevos rancheros & tofu scramble!Would recommend this place. We also made our way later on in the evening to sit by the bar, play a few card games & enjoyed live music!

We went here every day for 4 mornings. The food, scenery, and drinks were amazing. If you are on the island of Saint John, then this should be a main go-to spot for breakfast and cocktails.

Stopped here for breakfast when we went to the National Park. Really good quality food. Fast and efficient service. Good value for money and ideally located. Drinks were good too.Would certainly recommend for breakfast.

Love this local spot. My wife is vegan so her options are limited. But Cruz Landing has vegan options for breakfast and lunch. A must stop before heading out for excursions

St. John VI....The catch of the day was Blackened Snapper. It was completely raw except for the edges when it was brought out to the table. RAW. The waitress apologized and brought out jerk chicken. Better, but the thought of the fish completely ruined my dinner. My husband got the crab cakes. Not true crab cakes, but okay. I expected The Landing. I will not be back at this restaurant.

Outstanding!!! Wifey had the Gyro. I got the Brussel sprout and cauliflower appetizer and the blackened tuna appetizer every thing was AWESOME!! Staff was delightful and the atmosphere is outside but breeze and shady!! Can’t wait to go get some more of them!!!

Brother in law took us out to his favorite restaurant on the island. We had the daily catch of the blackened snapper. One of the best dishes I have ever had! Will make this our first stop every time we come back to the island! Great job guys!!Chuck & DaleNorth Carolina

We really enjoyed our meals at Cruz Bay Landing. We first went there for dinner & everything was excellent! We had the calamari, coconut shrimp & crab cakes and jerk chicken. My husband said he orders chicken out a lot and the jerk chicken was some of the best cooked & tasting he’s had. We returned twice after that for breakfast and once in the evening for ice cream. I love that they have a whole menu of coffee drinks (even frozen lattes!). I tried the coco mocha & thin mint froze lattes and they were better than Starbucks. Their pancakes for breakfast are huge and delicious, the cinnamon roll ones were my favorite. My husband also had the crab cake breakfast both times he liked it so much. The staff is great & they do not make you feel rushed. We had to wait at breakfast for a table but both times less than 10 minutes and it’s definitely worth waiting for! If we ever make it back to St. John this will definitely be our first & last stop! :)

Great first stop on the island.Food was ok.Service was great.Drinks was delicious. We try Baileys iced coffee and couple different cocktails. All of them was just perfect. The only negative thing that i have to say is that the bathroom is disgusting. Look like people who walking by using it also... need a lot of attention

At the Sun Dog Café, guests can enjoy a variety of menu items while listening to live music. The cafe is a great place to eat in St. John, with selections that include everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to hamburgers and pizzas.
Best place on the island to get breakfast!! Love the food and the staff are so friendly. Especially Kim!! Thanks for making this Missouri girls vacation even better

Smaller place in the breezeway of the shopping plaza. Bistro tables and a bit cramped. Food is very good and fits right in w all the STJ foodie quality. Service good also. Can get a bit busy as the traffic in and around the plaza is high. Not really the best spot for more than 4 people, given the bistro tables and chairs...but we were okay crowing 6 around one table. Just not so relaxing. They do a good job though.

This place is a really great. We at breakfast here twice and lunch once. Great location, nice servers, and the food was delicious. Definitely one of our fav spots to eat on the island.

We had a couple drinks at Sun Dog Café, in Mongoose Junction (1/3/24). Great drinks, great service. Definitely a place to start your Cruz Bay evening on the right foot! Our bartender managed a full bar solo, and made it look easy. Generous pours!

Wow! Great waitress, worst food of my entire existence. Easy bake oven pizza and cold tuna with garbage potato is to die for 🥰 Would absolutely not come again 🤗 Great place to not bring your entire family. Definitely recommend not visiting. To reiterate: one of the worst restaurants in the carribean, complete and total highway robbery. Would recommend going into any grocery store frozen section and heating that up instead, exact same experience except it won't cost 100 for two

This place was awesome, our server Juliette was super attentive and very helpful not to mention very very friendly! She really made the experience for us, the food came out at rocket ship speed and was ultra delicious! Do not miss out on this gem!

We have been here twice, each on two different vacations. The food is good, my only complaint is that they run out of certain dishes. But what they do have in stock is good, it just may be your second choice entree.

Got the Tuxedo Tuna Tacos and they were so so good! Very filling too. My husband got the Jerk Chicken Quesdilla which was also really good. Good service and outdoor atmosphere.

Stop by Sun Café for breakfast we’re so glad you did. So charming spot we can find. At least early in the morning. I had the smoked salmon Benedict, which is absolutely perfect start of the day. The flavors were a symphony in my mouth. Even the potatoes which don’t generally like, were very well done sautéed ingredients that made them quite delicious. Barbie was our server and I think she needed rollerskates serving all of the tables but somehow she was able to attend to everyone’s needs to perfection. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area.

We loved this place. It has been part of St. John for many years - but so easily overlooked due to it's location. One of the top two breakfast spots in St John. Lunch is awesome as well, and then the drinks available are great. The location is not easily visible but the seating is very comfortable, the always seems to be a nice breeze and the service was welcoming and well done. THANKS for awesome food and experience.

Located in Mongoose Junction on Northshore Road, St John Brewers' Tap Room offers craft beers and artisan sodas made by the brewery itself. Specials are a big draw, with pizzas and nachos topping the menu list. Tables are spread around an air-conditioned space, perfect for cooling off on those hot Caribbean days. There's even outdoor seating if you want to take in the views while you chow down.
Great pizza and salad. The lemonade was carbonated, I wouldn't recommend it. The root beer was okay. The staff did a great job.

Great location and service! Most of the food was too salty for my palette 🧂🚫 , but the burgers were nice 🍔💯 Great selection of grub for most tourist, compared to most of the islands in the area. Good prices, too!

Food is okay, nothing to write home about. The Tap Room Burger is described as a smashburger but definitely isn't one. Service was initially prompt but fell off and many orders came without their corresponding sides.

The Taproom is a gem—don’t miss it! It’s near the east end of Mongoose Junction. We sat on the small balcony and enjoyed a couple local IPA’s (Juicy Booty Hazy/Sky Flower), and shared the Warm Bavarian Pretzel (1/3/24). The pretzel was a generous size, and just perfect with the ice cold IPA’s. Service was friendly and relaxed, and no one made us feel guilty about taking a table at the dinner hour, just to have a couple beers. If you go to St. John, don’t miss the local beers! They are wonderful! We like hoppy, flavorful beers, but not TOO hoppy, and these fit the bill perfectly. You can get STJ Brewers products across the island, but it’s nice to drink them from the source! Head to The Taproom!

We appreciated the serving size- the salad and pizza were split easily between my husband and I, with leftover pizza! Price was right, especially during happy hour! Staff were very kind and accommodating!

Highly recommend this place! Great food in a fun location, close to everything in Cruz Bay. We tried the Toasted Coconut, Amber Ale, and the Tropical Mango. All excellent beers. Great place to kick back and people watch as well. If you are a craft brew fan, you won't want to miss this restaurant.

Good spot to catch a drink and lunch while on Saint John’s. Local beer from people who moved from the main land. Burger was very good and gluten free/dairy free options were applicable to our party (and pretty good!)

Excellent service! Bo was a fantastic, very attentive server - the best we experienced on the island so far! The beer was great. I had the Coconut Brown and my wife had the Mango seltzer and both were great choices. My wife was impressed with the Jerk Carib-Vegan pizza, and I had pepperoni which was also very good. We are only here for a week, so we would like to try as many different places as possible, otherwise we would definitely come back. We might come back anyway. Great place overall!

We stopped here to get into the cool out of the sun and heat after a few hours at Trunk Bay. Boy are we glad we did. The Tango Mango's, lemonade, grapefruit soda and root beer were all fantastic. We ordered chicken nachos, the Bleu burger, blackened chicken sandwich a pound of BBQ wings and a plain old cheese pizza. The first four were especially amazing. Cheese pizza is well....cheese pizza. We were left impressed and highly recommended. Service from Beau (sp?) was awesome.
JOSH PETERSON — Google review
Great service, delicious food with outdoor seating. The cheesy bread appetizer is like a pizza with a tasty marinara sauce. My favorite appetizer was the baked tropical poppers. The pizza here is delicious. I really enjoyed the baked wings (not fried). The Mediterranean chicken wrap was good. The rum with house rootbeer was amazing. 👍👍
Laura V — Google review
To quote my 17 year old son ... "best burger I've ever had" and I'd have to second that. The beer was amazing. His older brother and I liked the Toasted Coconut Brown and their Root Beer was also special. Turned out to be a great sports bar for us too, as the Rose Bowl was hard to get back at your room being outside of the Continental US even when you have subscriptions. The brothers who own and run the Tap Room were awesome to stay open after hours as the game ran to overtime (GO BLUE). Great outdoor eating on the porch too, which we did on a different night.
Dave Tengler — Google review
This place is a great meal when you're searching for solid standard American fare. The Mac and cheese was the best I had on the islands and the hot dog and hamburger hit the spot for a filling satisfying meal. The beers were lovely too. Tried the stout and porter. Both were unique and tasty without being too bitter.

The Beach Bar is a local favorite for New Year's Eve celebrations and delicious burgers. The music ranges from island rock to bluegrass, making it the perfect spot for any mood. There are also breakfast options if you're arriving early or late, and plenty of drink options for those looking to take in the moment.
Spent last week in St. John, and the Beach Bar was definitely our go to. Ended up here 3 of the 7 nights, and made sure to get there the last night. At one point I said “I want to wake up on a Sunday, go to the Beach Bar, and watch football all day.” Guess I need to plan a Fall trip! 5 stars, go for happy hour, stay for live music.

We went here for drinks a few nights and breakfast one morning. Great location! We loved looking out at the bay while enjoying our breakfast. What a great place even if you are not a late night party person. Love this place for BREAKFAST. The food was amazing - never would have expected that - one of my top two breakfast places on St John. Pair breakfast with one of many drinks that goes so well - Bloody Mary, Painkiller, and Monkey (think of it as a banana pain killer). The scenery is wonderful.

We didn't get food but heard from everyone there it is great food. The painkiller is great and their frozen drinks were my favorite. My husband drank painkiller and said it was the best he had out whole trip. The bartenders were great. They were on top of everything. The view is amazing and we had a nice breeze. I probably could have spent all day there drinking. Would go back in a heart beat!!

My husband and I took the ferry from st thomas to St. John on 5/4. It was our first to St. John. A friend recommended several restaurants on st john. We arrived at 11am and The Beach Bar was the only one on their list that was open. My husband had Shrimp and chips and i had the macho nachos. Both of our meals were excellent. The view is magnificent, my husband said he could have sat there all day. At the end of our day we had time before the ferry ride back so we decided to get drinks. The drinks were great, and though busier at this time the service was still top notch. I highly recommend checking them out and getting food and/or drinks.

The Banana Deck is a Caribbean restaurant with a fun treehouse-like setting. It's popular and reservations are recommended, so make sure to plan ahead. The staff is awesome and the atmosphere is perfect for enjoying views of the water. The menu features dishes such as grilled chicken sandwich and fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Prices can be steep, but it's definitely worth a visit!
Fun treehouse like setting.Popular, so make a reservation for dinner or show up very early for seats at the bar.The staff was awesome, great drinks and great atmosphere, view of the water through the treetops. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and the fettuccine Alfredo w/shrimp.The pasta was the best single dish we had all week.Pricey, but worth it!

This place was fantastic on all levels. The island atmosphere was great, it has multiple levels right across the street from the ocean. The food was amazing and came out hot, delicious, and on time. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a Sunday night out and even spotted a wild peacock while enjoying some dinner and listening to some live music. The red snapper and Caribbean chicken were wonderful!

You have to eat here. And if you have room order the dessert. If you don't have room, order it to go. Everything on the menu is great. Came with a party of 8 and everyone ordered something different and we all loved the food. Our server Matt was excellent also. You won't be disappointed eating here.
A D. — Google review
Service wasn't that great. Wrong dishes and drinks were brought to our table repeatedly. Ordered peel n eat shrimp appetizer, but wasn't made aware they had ran out until entrees came out, thus it was too late to order a different starter. Lobster dinner isn't a caribbean lobster and was a tiny 6 ounce tail, but luckily it tasted pretty good. Spring rolls were tiny (check pic) and bland. The salad with blackened chicken was the only saving grace. Lastly, if you plan to sit on the upper deck (facing the lower deck), make sure you're wearing appropriate clothing ladies, because the back drop where your legs hang isn't covered and people sit under you.

Enjoyed the Banana Deck as our first stop on the island in 2022. Decided to make it our last dinner this year.We did make a reservation prior. Team was very friendly and prompt. We got the conch fritters (excellent), grouper/shrimp/crab in white wine sauce, and a Mahi sandwich. Every dish was well prepared and delicious.View is very nice, especially around sunset when we came, as it overlooks Cruz Bay. As with most open air restaurants, recommend bug spray !Overall, experience was pleasant and we will certainly be back next time we're local.

Banana Deck is consistently wonderful. The service (Kathryn & Katy) was quick and very helpful and friendly. The meals were perfectly prepared and delicious. We ate there three times! Once just with salads so we had room for their amazing dessert. Everything we had was perfectly prepared and delicious. The prices were reasonable for the quality of their meals.

A fun spot with good food. Pretty touristy but not unplesant. The service was not bad and the prices are standard for the island. The quesadilla amd seafood spring rolls were hits!

Would leave less if possible. Website does not mention reservations. Planned our evening to be there at opening at 5 so we could be seated under covered patio. Sign at entrance said reservations recommend (why was this not mentioned on website). There were 4 couples that showed up around 5 and we were all told all tables under covered patio were reserved but they would gladly seat us in the 89 degree sun with no shade or umbrellas!!! Everyone waiting left. Several of us ended up at High Tide where we were immediately seated in the shade with a nice breeze and great view and good food and service.

I've heard about Banana Deck for several years and finally decided to give it a try... I'm not happy that I wanted so long because I could have been enjoying the food here during every visit to St. John. I would say definitely give it a try, you won't be disappointed. We had an amazing time at Banana deck - we had a group of 10 and came back two nights in a row. The red snapper curry with plantains was AMAZING, and the ribeye can’t be beat. The wait staff was the kindest, and Chris, the owner, was so sweet and hospitable. Overall, a 5 star experience, great food, and great location with the live music across the street. Thank you! The Banana Deck combined top-notch food with a more low-key atmosphere in St. John. You can eat here and feel like you are getting quality food for the prices, which are steep all over the island, but still enjoy a tropical beach feel. We will eat here more than once during our stay!Get dessert. Don't look at the price, just get it. To share!

Decent food, good portions in the heart of 'downtown' St. John on Cruz Bay. Make a reservation, it fills up! Steep stairs going up, definitely not handicapped accessible. Service ok, once we were seated. Be prepared to wait at the desk to be seated, there is some seating beyond the desk if you need to sit. Right across from the Beach Bar and a couple doors down from Lovongo Rum Bar.

Deli
Located on the 3rd floor of The Marketplace above the Starfish Market in Cruz Bay, St. John, Sam & Jack's Deli is a popular eatery offering outdoor seating and ample parking space. With its wide array of American cuisine, including soups, delicatessen items, and vegetarian-friendly options with gluten-free and vegan choices available, it caters to diverse preferences. Whether you're looking for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, this deli has got you covered.
High-quality deli meat subs that remind me of the hoagie and grinder of NY, NJ, CT. Fresh-squeezed lemonade, freshly made chips, pita, and bread. Like everywhere else on the island, Sam and Jerru's also does a cocktail or two. Be careful about directions. Our first route took us behind the marketplace into Enighed instead of the Marketplace where this is located. I had the Jackson with it's freshly roasted peppers and black olives. I also decided to get a side of the artichoke spinach and garlic dip which was amazing. My husband likes his sandwiches really plain and was so impressed with the juicy, delicious turkey.

We ordered the sausage lasagne for 6-8 and were disappointed in it. First, be aware that the salad & bread cost extra AND they include a 20% gratuity without telling you (not listed on menu & only when we asked about the total cost did they tell us). We picked up the lasagne to eat later that evening; it was already overcooked so when we heated it up it got too done. There was not enough sauce and there was WAY too much sausage. No one in our party of 5 liked it; it's a huge portion--we all took hearty portions but over half the pan remained. The service is very friendly at this deli (& the chocolate cookies are great) but we do not recommend the lasagne take out meal. We ARE very happy to tip the hardworking kitchen staff but 10-15% would be more appropriate AND put it in writing. The salad & bread were fine!

A must when on St. John. My favorite is the Jimmy. This is a great place to load up for lunch at the beach.

Sam and jacks catered our wedding in Feb 2024 and was absolutely amazing! The staff were super helpful with the whole planning process and the food will knock your socks off! We chose a taco bar with multiple appetizers and our guests are still raving about it! Big shoutout to Allison and Siobhan you both took care of us on our special night - they were so nice that we believe we made life long friends with them! We will most definitely be back and highly recommend!!

Friendly staff, small space above starfish marketplace. We hadn’t eaten in here in some time, now I remember why. I ordered 4 sandwiches and a bagel today at 10:49 am. 27 short minutes later, at 11:16, I walked out with most of my order. There was nobody in line ahead of me, and one person waiting for two sandwiches ahead of me. Super slow time I stopped in. This is not just island time, this is island extreme. I got my order after telling them I was in a hurry to catch the 11:30 ferry, at that point the cashier went to tell them to hurry the order?!? The sandwiches are delicious, and huge. I wouldn’t have needed all the food I ordered anyway I guess. Maybe they were doing me a favor? I would highly suggest ordering early by phone, really early, like the day before. If you don’t have anything to do for an hour or so and want most of your lunch food, awesome place!

Highly recommend. Delicious sandwiches, be sure to check out the daily specials. The staff is super friendly. Located on level 3 above the Starfish Market.

One of my favorites on the island. So happy to see they opened back up after the pandemic. I've seen complaints about the time it takes to get food, but maybe a quality sandwich takes time? Always a good opportunity to kick back and enjoy a mimosa while you wait on the food. One tip, their sandwiches are better dry. We let them get wet in the cooler while relaxing on the beach, they were still tasty due to the high quality. We of course went back for another round of dry sandwiches before getting on the ferry. A visit to Sam and Jack's is a must while visiting the island!

BEST and most affordable sandwiches on the island!!!! Really great, flavorful, HUGE portions, homemade chips, and they even have a bar inside. We bought sandwiches and then headed to the beach to eat them. The chicken parmesean “rosetti” was REALLY good! Met several locals getting sandwiches here as well. And there is an amazing authentic italian gelato spot in the same shopping complex.Starfish market is also the best and most affordable market on this side of the island. Much cheaper than Dolphin.

One of the best Places to eat in the island, their Mean jean Sandwich it's the best, I was here when I was a kid and the owners have been always great and nice people, I still remember the mean jean and it's to this day one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten, I highly recommend it

This is not a helpful review because we were there in 2021 and thought they were closing. I just remember they had the best sandwiches and how sad I was going to be going back to St. John and them not being there! So happy you reopened. See you Jan 2024!

Great breakfast sandwiches and the iced coffee was very good. They even had coffee ice cubes. A lot of other food options that look very good. They definitely pay attention to the details when it comes to the quality of their food. Perfectly made croissants too, very delicious

Sam & Jacks is the ultimate secret food weapon on St. John. Beach day? Delicious sandwiches, homemade sides, desserts & fun bags (boozy frozen drinks). Hungover? Giant breakfast sandwiches & iced coffee with coffee cubes. Feeling lazy? Readymade dinners with wine pairing. Semi homemade? Fresh pizza dough. Hosting a party? They cater. Plus everyone working is friendly and welcoming.

The North Shore Deli in Cruz Bay is a great spot to get a meal after the ferry ride from St.Thomas. They serve up delicious breakfast burritos made with the North Shore scramble, as well as sandwiches made with meats slow-roasted in-house. It's dark and highly decorated, making it an interesting place to visit.
Great place to get a meal after the ferry ride from St.Thomas. They will put the North Shore scramble in a tortilla if you ask, makes for a delicious breakfast burrito!

Great sandwiches. Gluten free options. The GF bread was some of the best my wife has ever had and they sell it by the loaf. Really enjoyed their potato salad as well - nice and peppery.Server was super friendly. We will definitely come back

Great deli for a quick bite or a picnic meal to easily be taken to a beach! Recommended to us by a local. Check your order before you leave though. We ordered 2 of the same sandwich, but one veggie and one vegan and got two veggie. Didn't realize until we were already on the beach. But the cashiers try to go so quickly through your order, it was a little overwhelming.

Is that...a hamburger patty?! I love Greek Pitas. This is not gyro meat, and the lettuce is grossly slimy. The whole thing tasted rotten as soon as I bit into it; it's inedible. Hugely disappointed after reading such great reviews.

Great sandwiches and smoothies! Friendly staff. Casual, counter service spot; seating available inside or outside as part of the broader complex it's in. Parking for customers available at side of building.I had the Italian sandwich and a mango smoothie. Was great! Somewhat costly for what you get but nothing crazy. Food came quickly. Just what we needed before going on a long hike.Part of a very interesting building; great to sit outside

Good breakfast sandwiches, but a little pricey & small being on English Muffins.Lunch sandwiches were very good. We had a #4 Turkey & Bacon and a #7 Pirate Piggy. Both were good sized, w/juicy & flavorful meats on fresh rolls. Took the sandwiches to go, for a great lunch at Francis Bay Beach.

Great sub shop to take some food with you to the beach. I hear the breakfast sandwiches are amazing but we missed it by 5 mins, they stop serving breakfast at 11.

The roast beef and mushrooms sandwich was great! The peanut butter and Jelly sandwich not so much. It's kinda pricey, but so is everything in st.john. A great place to grab a sandwich before you head to the beach.

Go-to grab and go, sandwiches made to order local brew coffee, chips, beer, rum, water, soda, etc. if you're heading to the 🏖️ stop here and load up with snacks, smoothies and an iced cold ice coffee, for the ride. I may be missing Dunkies, but not that much! Cute shirts and hats, too. Desserts like coconut 🥥 chocolate squares are killa'.....see ya on the beach for another day in paradise on St. John. Seafood restaurant
1864 is a high-end seafood spot with creative drinks, amazing atmosphere, and delicious food. The service is quick but detailed, and the restaurant is perfect for a romantic night out.
We will return to eat here again. I had the seafood risotto which was really good. Others in our party had the seared tuna, stuffed shrimp, and the fried chicken. All meals were great. Also the fried conch appetizer was a treat. Great food, service, and ambiance.

We had dinner at 1864 on Monday, November 20, 2023 It was a great experience. Hostess was inviting our waitress was great and the food was wonderful. We had a member of our group who is gluten free. The waitress was great in answering questions and giving advice. We went back on Saturday, November 25, 2023. It was a different experience. Hostess was not very friendly and our waitress was not friendly or helpful and quite rude with us. The second visit, we had a member of our group who is allergic to seafood. We asked the waitress for help in what they could order since the menu stated anything fried could be tainted and many things on the menu are fried. I asked if perhaps the chicken could be grilled. She said no. Choices were the steak with sweet potato mash, broccoli or green beans, either of the 2 salads, chicken bone broth soup (which truly needs a new name) and the Ricotta cheese appetizer. Her comment to us was “doesn’t seem like a great idea to vacation on an island if you are allergic to seafood”. I was shocked by this comment. Our family has been coming to St. John for over 20 years bringing lots of family and friends with them for the experience of all that St. John offers. If you could please consider having other things on your menu for those who enjoy traveling and have food allergies.

This was our second trip to 1864 and it was excellent, just like our first in 2022. We had the clam chowder (excellent), Conch fritters (excellent), honey chicken/Mac & cheese (GF liked it alot), and the stuffed prawns ( my choice, was pretty good combo). Service was excellent by all including host, server, and those busing tables. Atmosphere was pleasant, as it was last time. Cost was a little on the high side, but it is St.John. Overall experience was great and we will stop back next time we are in.

Ate dinner here last night and had a really lovely experience. The ambiance was beautiful and everything was handled so well the whole time. They had a really great wine selection which has been hard to find in the USVI. My brother had a glass of vinho verde and we also had a bottle of Williamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir. Fantastic. All our food was delicious, and was paced out perfectly. I’d say the real personal treats for me were the chicken bone broth as my appetizer, the cassava mofongo with pork belly in my ahi tuna dish, and the cinnamon vanilla bread pudding dessert-holy s$&t was that delicious. I included pictures of everything we had. Yum!! Highly recommend.

What an amazing meal! The best on the island in my opinion. The crab starter was unlike any crab I’d had before, but the steak and fries was incredible. Truly top 5 steak of my life and the fries were also exceptional.. trust me. Whisky cocktail was great too. HIGHLY recommend.

Outstanding service and fantastic food. Best conch fritters on St. John. Not sure what's in that dipping sauce but it is perfect. Best restaurant on the island.

Our bartender was so high on cocaine or aderal we thought he was going to drop right in front of us !He could not sit still for a moment to answer questions and there are were only 5 other people and two other bartenders there with him.The atmosphere is nice but the menu …. Well, if you want fine dining, it’s not here. A very limited menu with nothing creative. Very, very big disappointment as we chose this as our “romantic” dinner night. The island, as we all know is Beautiful but the food …. Bring your own and cook at home.Go out for apps &!drinks and you won’t be let down

This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from Cruz Bay, St. John, V.I. We took a catamarans from the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas. 6 of us were seater promptly for dinner at 6. Everyone like there dinner and their drinks were very good. I had the fried scallops with potato fries with a Sake To Me cocktail. The atmosphere was outstanding as was the service. The price for six wasn't bad at all considering we were in St. John. I would go back.

The food and drinks were great! Our service however was not what we were expecting. Being a group of 6, gratuity was included which is normally fine and totally understandable. But our server was unknowledgeable about wine, laughed in our face when we ordered 4 things of bread, and was just not friendly (didn’t even tell us his name).

This location is an restaurant and AirBnb guest rooms. Restaurants and guest rooms are separate, so you can just choose to only eat there. I had breakfasts and stayed for 4 days at the same time.Restaurant experience:When you stay there, only the single "Continental" menu is free. Other menus are not. The Continental includes fruits and a choice of bread. They are not much in portion, but if you need free breakfast (since the food here is more expensive than mainland), it's a good option. Tastes good.In the other morning, I ordered "The Classic" (see the menu). All food on the dish was fresh and well cooked. It was a great start of the morning.Guest room experience:I stayed in a single-person room. By looking at their binder that includes all the necessary info to use the facility, I could tell that they keep the place very nice and clean (like keeping sand out of the room), so I also tried to use the place clean. Shared bathroom was nice to use. The lights in my room was little dark, but it was not a huge issue. They have lits of hangers, so it was good for me to dry the clothes. The outside foot wash is very convenient (which is advised to use before entering the room). Location is 3-4 minutes for walk from the downtown (i.e. cruze bay) (you never need a taxi for that distance).

Hotel
The Caneel Bay Resort is a luxurious and upscale hotel that offers a range of amenities including tennis courts, a fitness center, and beachfront dining. It is located within the Virgin Islands National Park on Laurance Rockefeller's former estate, providing guests with access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. This eco-resort was the first of its kind in the Caribbean and offers an isolated retreat where visitors can disconnect from the outside world.
Had our Honeymoon there 40 years ago. And we shared 3 more anniversary’s there. Has a special place in our hearts. We would definitely be back if they rebuild.

Caneel Bay Resort is a fine hotel and a wonderful place to spend your vacation. The resort is still under contract negotiations to resume operations, but in the mean time I felt like I would share my experience. The concierge was wonderful with helping me find things to do around St. John. The transportation from the airport was easy with their ferry ride directly from St. Thomas. The hotel is a very expensive and be prepared to pay fees you did not expect. But all and all the hotel is beautiful with stunning views and upscale accommodations.
Bryce Covell — Google review
This place is paradise. It feels as if you are staying on your own private island. 7 private beaches and 3 restaurants out of the which 2 are fine dining, zozo's and the stake house. This place is very expensive so do not go there if you are pinching pennies. I suggest for you to stay ocean front at turtle bay beach if your budget allows it.You will go down a few steps from your room (4 to be exact) and you will be in one of the most private secluded beaches I have ever experienced. On a negative note...do not expect friendly staff at the main restaurant.Even though we experienced the worst service while we have been on vacation ever.......we will surely come back as the place is worth it.You will stay right inside a national park.
Nelson Garcia Mella — Google review
We love the property and wild life, but are deeply disturbed by the sour, non-accommodating, unfriendly staff. We are luxury travelers and booked their best room, Cottage 7E, to celebrate our anniversary. We kept interactions with staff to a minimal because we had been there before and knew how non-hospitable they are. It has been difficult to come back for that reason alone, but the pristine beaches and privacy keeps us coming. This time though we made sure to choose the best room to at the very least get the best treatment. But nope. Other than the welcome champagne bottle they did nothing else a luxury stay requires. They even misspelled our name (which is well-known, and completely ignored my name or presence unlike any other guests's envelope) and made no effort to get to know us. The umbrella on our deck flew off with the wind and was never replaced. There was a leak in our room that made the floor dangerously wet daily right by the entrance door, they never addressed. They did not come for turndown service on our last night (because by then they just want you gone), and then refused to accommodate us just for a few extra minutes of late checkout so we would have time to enjoy our last day as much as possible. They made us take a 12:15PM ferry that was too early for our flight and we were miserable at the airport for 4 hours. I am not sure why so much disdain and dismissive mess when you are paying over $1000 per night for a room.
Camila Medici — Google review
Was a go to every February for 15 years before the storm. National Park Service will not let the iconic resort rebuild. Sad
Barton Lord — Google review
Beautiful and relaxing. The grounds are vast and lovely to stroll around but there are shuttles to take you where you want to go. Each group of rooms has pretty much a private beach. Never had more than 3 people out snorkeling with us. Very peaceful and private. They also clean/rake the beaches twice a day to keep them at their best. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The best part was having the beach 10 steps away from our patio and watching the mongoose darting around all over the place. The only con about the whole resort was the price of food in the restaurants. Even a bottle of water was outrageous. We weren't able to leave the resort but they do have a taxi stand where you can get a ride into town or private ferry to take you back and forth to St Thomas. Aside from the expensive food, this place just can't be beat! All gear/water activities included. Just have a plan for meals/drinks and enjoy this fantastic resort!
