Announcement
The first stage of in a Secret Lair Drop Series lifecycle is the announcement! Most sales are announced through previews or articles in the weeks before a sale takes place, while others might be announced shortly before the day of sale. Announcement articles can be found over on Daily MTG.
The best way to be notified of a Secret Lair Drop Series sale is to sign up for our promotional emails on the Secret Lair site. You can also follow our Secret Lair social media channels for any news of upcoming sales! Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
On Sale
After the sale begins, Secret Lair Drop Series Preorders are open! A Preorder is a time-boxed to demand request; this is a window of time in which Wizards will begin production of the product as ordered and your commitment to pay for the order when the debiting cycle begins. An order is considered a Preorder up until it has been debited, just before its release date.
Preorders can be placed while signed into your Wizards Account on the Secret Lair website or under a ‘Guest’ account. Orders placed while signed in can be managed on the Secret Lair website, while ‘Guest’ orders will need to be managed through your Preorder’s Confirmation Email.
While in Preorder status, actions you can take with an order include: cancelation, shipping address changes, and payment method updates. This can be done by managing your order!
After a Preorder has been placed, you are unable to make changes to the quantities or contents of the order. This includes adding or removing items and bundling multiple orders together. If the sale is still ongoing, and the orders have not debited, you can cancel your Preorders and place different order with the desired quantities.
Please Note: Certain large orders can meet a threshold that results in orders billing immediately. Secret Lair Drop Series’ still for sale but past their Release date will also be billed immediately.
These orders are identified by the system and will receive a required checkbox prompt before checkout. This action will debit the order entirely at checkout instead of closer to the release date.
Sale Close
Following the end of a sale, generally at 9:00am PST on the last day of the sale, no additional orders can be placed. Due to the limited nature of Secret Lair Drop Series, these items are no longer available for sale.
At this point, cancelling an order will result in the order being lost. Remember, orders are unable to have additional quantities added or removed and Preorders cannot be cancelled to ‘bundle’ multiple orders together.
Products Made to Order
Now that the sale has ended, the next stage of a Secret Lair Drop Series’ lifecycle is underway! Your order enters the production cycle, being made ready to ship out to you. Preorders exist in this state until the Debiting Cycle and up to the Release Date.
This stage is the optimal time to manage your order, as needed. Cancellation requests, Shipping Address changes, and Payment Method updates can still be made if your order has not been debited. If the order has been debited, Customer Support may still be able to assist with managing your order, just contact us for support here.
Please Note: Updating the ‘Address Book’ or ‘Payment Methods’ of your Secret Lair account will not change the Address or Payment for an existing order. The Address Book is intended to store your shipping address for future orders and will not auto-update any orders on file.
In the event of unforeseen delays or updates to your Preorder, we will send a notification to the email address on file for your order. If you are not seeing emails from us, it may be possible that some email services route our emails to specific tabs or folders like Promotions or Spam.
The current Release Date and any Special Notes for orders can be found on the Secret Lair Production and Shipping Status page.
Debiting Announcement
This stage of the Secret Lair Drop Series lifecycle will be announced through a Debiting Notification email a few weeks before the Release Date of your Secret Lair, generally a week before the first billing attempt. This email will advise you that the Debiting Cycle for your order is coming and gives you a chance to Cancel your order or update your Shipping Address and/or Payment Method before billing attempts are made. The Debiting Notification email provides a link to update your information, or you can ’Modify My Order’ through a Secret Lair account to make these changes. Additional instructions can also be found in our article Managing an Existing Secret Lair Order.
Please Note: At this stage, if an order is cancelled, we cannot reinstate an order.
If an order contains Secret Lair Drops from multiple Drop Series sales with differing Release Dates, the order will not ship until the last Release Date passes. (Ex. Drop 1 releases March 4th and Drop 2 releases May 6th, the order will not ship until after May 6th.)
Debiting Cycle
When a Debit attempt is made, the payment method on file will be charged for your order’s total. If the charge is successful, your Preorder will move to the ‘Validated’ status. Once an order has been Validated, you will be unable to change the shipping address or payment method of the order.
If a debit attempt is not successful, an email will be sent advising that the payment has failed, and we will attempt again soon—usually listing the date of the next attempt. This email will also recommend updating your payment method in the event of an error. If there is an error with your payment method, we recommend changing to an alternative form of payment, if available.
Please Note: The Debiting Cycle is the last chance to update your shipping information. Once the shipping stage of your order begins, Wizards of the Coast cannot change the shipping address listed on your order.
Customer Support is able to assist further if you experience issues with your debiting your order here.
Release Date / End of Debiting Cycle
The Debiting Cycle typically ends just before the Release Date of your order. At this point, your order will move to the shipping stage.
Our system will attempt to debit your listed payment once a week, up until the Release Date, before your order results in cancellation for failure to debit. If no payment is collected before the Release Date, your order is considered abandoned. Generally, abandoned orders cannot be reactivated.
Digital Content
Some Secret Lair Drop Series orders come with Digital Content for other Wizards of the Coast games! After your order has debited, the Digital Content for your order becomes available. This content can be found on your order’s confirmation page, for more information please check our article Does My Secret Lair Include Digital Content.
Shipping Begins
The next step in your order’s lifecycle is the shipping step! Your order has debited and is being prepared for shipping. This stage may take some time as your order is prepared, labelled, picked up by the carrier, and delivered to you. Due to the popularity of Secret Lair Drop Series, we anticipate this stage can take up to 30 days to finish while our partners work diligently to get your order on its way. If you do not have a tracking link for your order after 30 days from the release date, please let Customer Support know here link.
At this point, the shipping address on your order can no longer be updated. Your shipping information has been locked in with our shipping partners and cannot be changed or altered.
After being prepared by our shipping partners, your order will have a shipping label created. A tracking number for your order has been created and link to tracking sent to the email address on file. At times, brand new tracking links can reflect an error at first glance, though generally updates within a day to show your order in ‘Label Created’ status. This means that your order is waiting to be picked up and scanned in by the carrier.
Please Note: Wizards of the Coast has access to the same information found with your tracking link. We are unable to access additional information and cannot provide more beyond what can be seen on your provided tracking.
During Shipping
After your order gets picked up and scanned by the carrier, it begins the trip to you! After some travel time, your order is delivered to the shipping address provided.
There are times during shipping where orders are lost, delayed, or even misdelivered. If there seems to be a concern with the shipping of your order, we recommend contacting the carrier for assistance, as they will have more detailed information regarding your shipment.
If your order appears to be ‘stuck’ in transit for two or more weeks or ‘looping’ between two or more facilities, we recommend contacting the carrier for further assistance. If they are unable to assist, please contact Customer Support with a screenshot of your correspondence with the carrier here.
If your order is processed by international customers, your order’s shipment may take additional time. We recommend checking service disruptions in your area for the carrier. Check with your local carriers or any of the major carriers below:
USPS: https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
UPS: https://www.ups.com/us/en/service-alerts.page
FedEx: https://www.fedex.com/en-us/service-alerts.html
If your order has not been processed by customs and it has been more than 30 days, and there are no known service disruptions in your area, please contact Customer Support for further assistance here.
Delivery
At the end of the shipping stage, your order is delivered successfully to the address on file! You have your order in hand and are ready to go!
If your order shows on the tracking as delivered, and was not received by you or someone at your shipping address, we recommend contacting the carrier to file a claim for a lost package before contacting Customer Support for further assistance.
If you believe that your order was stolen, or the carrier is unable to accept a claim, we recommend contacting local law enforcement to file a report for mail theft before contacting Customer Support with the case or file number.
Customer Support is also able to assist with orders that have been Returned to Sender, Lost in Transit, or sent to US Post Office disposal sites.
The Shipping Stage generally ends 30 days after the Release Date of your Secret Lair Drop Series order. If you have not received your order or tracking information by this stage, please let us know here.
The last stage of a Secret Lair Drop Series’ lifecycle is when it has arrived safely to you! Your order is ready to be collected, played in your deck, or even displayed!
