Since the launch of the CUDA integrated development environment announced in November 2006 and theNVIDIA® Tesla™ C870 arithmetic processor released the following year, the concept of multitasking has begun to evolve greatly. Up until then, the parallel approach that had been centered around many-core CPUs and clusters attracted attention to one accelerator card, and is now becoming a regular at the top of supercomputer rankings. The speed of computation has evolved literally, from gigaflops to teraflops and petaflops, and compiler directives such as PGI and OpenACC have also benefited legacy source code.
G-DEP “Japan GPU Computing Partnership” was born in 2010 against this background. R & D speeds up significantly with GPU accelerators, and the time created is an advantage to the next step. “GDEP Advance Co., Ltd.” is a corporate organization that was established to inherit the DNA of GDEP, which played a part in the spread of GPU computing, and to move forward more actively for the next era.
