The benefit of having a house in Skyrim is that you can get a well-rested bonus without having to pay for an inn. You can level all your skills in a very convenient way, as everything is located in one place. For instance, sometimes you will need an enchanting table, an alchemy table, and a forge.
You can also adopt children, and sleeping while your children are in the same house grants you a 25% increased healing from spells and potions. If you sleep in the same house as your spouse, you also get a 15% increase in your skill level. These are great bonuses that make it worth buying a house in Skyrim.
