I haven't been to Simpsons in many years. Probably 10 years. I collect .22 military training rifles (mostly WWII era) and was on the prowl for more as usual. After talking to Robert for awhile he took me in the back and gave me a private tour of his personal collection.
I seem to remember him having in excess of 100 DSM's and the like. I was blown away at how many WWII German trainers he had alone. Several sniper trainers too. (I have two and they are both safe queens and my most prized collected firearms other than family heirlooms of course)
I also collect sub caliber barrel conversions for German K98's and Luger pistols. I asked if he had any of those for sale. He just smiled at me and pointed to a blueprint file cabinet and said open one of those droors. When I did it was like all the angels in heaven sang out at once in glorious harmony! Droor after droor of sub caliber conversions. Too many to count.
I couldn't get him to part with anything because he said he was writing a book on WWII trainers. To the best of my knowledge he never has though.
