It’s nearly back to school time, and with it comes the annual tradition of parents posting first-day-of-school pictures on social media. However, many parents unwittingly give away too much information when they post their back-to-school photos. Information such as where they live and which school their child attends. To put it simply, the more personal details you share online, the more vulnerable you and your child will become. To minimise the risk, parents should consider the five simple safety steps set out below before sharing back-to-school photographs online.#Chirp#Chirpfamily#ProtectingchildrenonlineChirpfamily.com

Turkey Bans Roblox To "Protect Children"Turkey has announced it is banning Roblox from operating in their country in a measure they say is designed to help protect children. Many parents of young children will be familiar with Roblox which is one of the biggest online video games in the world. Roblox is free to use and is hugely popular amongst children under 16yrs of age with an estimated 200 million active monthly users globally. Despite its popularity Roblox has faced continuous criticism for its moderation, microtransactions, and allegations of exploitative practices toward children. In a statement announcing the ban on X (Twitter), the Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said, “According to our constitution, the state is obliged to take the necessary measures to protect our children,” adding that the country will "protect and support the best interests of our children, the guarantor of our future”#Chirp#Chirpfamily#ProtectingchildrenonlineChirpfamily.com

Findings from a new survey reveals that more than half of parents wish they'd waited longer before giving their child a mobile phone. The worldwide survey of 10,000 parents in the UK, US, India, Germany and Australia was commissioned by Human Mobile Devices (HMD) who are the largest European manufacturer of smartphones and makers of Nokia phones.Other key points to emerge from the global survey include: * On average, children are 11 years old when they receive their first phone and more than half the parents in the study said that they wish they had waited longer to hand the device to their children.* Almost half of parents researched believe mobile phone use has changed their child's personality, with a third claiming their child has body image issues due to their phones. * About 70 per cent of the surveyed parents in the UK, US, India, Germany and Australia claimed that their smartphone-free childhood meant they engaged more with their family. * More than half said thattheir child's phone use is a source of big arguments and a third have cried over their child's phone obsession.* Three-quarters of parents think their children will see their phones more during the summer break from school, with 64 per cent saying it will negatively impact their sleep.* 61% of parents think it will reduce the amount of physical activity their children will take, and more than half worried that it will reduce the amount of time their kids will spend socialising with friends.* Despite concerns, morethan half of parents agreed that smartphones can have a positive impact on their children and benefit them educationally during the summer break as well as by enabling them to keep in touch with their friends.* Almost 75% of parents feared smartphones would expose their children to internet dangers, with more than half admitting they don't know what their children get up to when using their phones.#Chirp#Chirpfamily#Protectingchildrenonlinechirpfamily.comClick on the link below 👇 for more information on the research and its findings.https://lnkd.in/eJvTCUC7

“Victory Selfies” help to drive sales for Samsung Galaxy Flip6 Smartphones. If you’ve been watching the Paris Olympics over the past week and in particular the winning medalist ceremonies then you may have noticed many of the athletes commemorating their crowning moment with a “victory selfie”. These victory selfies are not the result of a random act of spontaneous joy but a well orchestrated publicity campaign devised and managed by the technology giant Samsung in order to help promote awareness for their new foldable Galaxy Z Flip6 smartphone.Samsung are a long time commercial partner with the Olympics with the “victory selfies” seeming to strike a chord with athletes as in the past, personal belongings – including phones – were not permitted on the field of play, so athletes at previous Games were unable to capture an image when they received their medals. In addition to being able to capture a “victory selfie” on the podium, all athletes competing (about 17,000) at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will receive their own custom-built Olympic Edition of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6 smartphone. Samsung said it saw a 23% spike in Flip6 sales on July 30, compared with an average day at the Olympics so far.#Chirp#Chirpfamily#Samsung#ParisOlympics#Smartphones
